Description of Baichuan

Baichuan is a family of Chinese–English large language models from Baichuan Intelligence, which includes the open Baichuan 1/2 models with 7B and 13B parameters, trained on corpora of up to 2.6 trillion tokens. The models support contexts of up to 4096 tokens, perform confidently in Chinese and English, and achieve state-of-the-art results on benchmarks such as MMLU, C-EVAL, GSM8K, and HumanEval, including complex tasks in medicine and law. The lineup continues to evolve: Baichuan-4 improves accuracy in legal, financial, and medical scenarios, while Baichuan-Omni offers a multimodal mode with support for text, images, video, and audio. Technically, Baichuan consists of open Transformer models with dense architectures (7B/13B) and advanced training: a large multilingual dataset, RLHF alignment, and red-teaming improve answer accuracy and safety in real business scenarios. Open weights and commercially friendly licenses make it possible to run Baichuan both in the cloud and on-prem, while the multimodal Baichuan-Omni version enables building a single assistant that can simultaneously “read” text documents, analyze images/scans, and work with video or audio.
