Description of Erni

Ernie is a family of advanced AI models from Baidu, built on the ERNIE (Enhanced Representation through Knowledge Integration) architecture and powering Ernie Bot. In the current lineup, Ernie 4.0 / 4.5 use multimodal Mixture-of-Experts models that work with text, images, and video, support long context up to ~128K tokens, and scale to hundreds of billions of parameters (up to 424B total and 47B active parameters per token in the top versions). Thanks to this, Ernie demonstrates a level comparable to the world’s leading LLMs, especially in Chinese-language tasks, multilingual communication, coding, and complex reasoning. From a technical perspective, Ernie 4.5 is an open family of MoE models of various sizes (from compact to 424B parameters), available under the commercially friendly Apache 2.0 license. The long context of up to 128K tokens allows the model to analyze large documents, codebases, and complex dialogue chains, while tool support and function calling make it possible to build agentic systems that can call APIs, databases, and external services.
