Description of Jais

Jais is a family of bilingual Arabic-English models developed by Inception (G42) together with MBZUAI and Cerebras. The flagship Jais-13B is a 13-billion-parameter model based on a GPT-3-like architecture, trained on 395 billion tokens: tens of billions of Arabic text tokens and hundreds of billions of English and code tokens, which ensures high quality for both purely Arabic and mixed (code-mixed) texts. More compact variants are also available (for example, 6.7B), which are easier to deploy on limited resources. Jais is aimed at Middle Eastern markets and use cases where high-quality Arabic language understanding is essential: digital customer services, government, finance, telecom, education, and media. Jais can be used to build multilingual assistants, support chatbots, analytical systems for Arabic documents, HR and training platforms, as well as specialized solutions for e-commerce and banks in the MENA region.
