Nous Hermes is the flagship line of models from Nous Research, originally built as a fine-tuned version of LLaMA/Llama 2 on more than 300K carefully curated instructions, and in newer versions (Hermes 3/4) as a family of Llama-3.1 models (8B, 70B, 405B) with improved reasoning and agentic capabilities. Hermes is known as a neutrally aligned and controllable series: the models carefully follow system and user prompts, maintain roles well, and are strong in reasoning, code, and role-based scenarios. Technically, Nous Hermes is available in 7B and 13B variants and further up to tens and hundreds of billions of parameters, allowing you to choose the right balance between quality and cost.
